Tucked away in a secluded spot in the lovely unspoiled countryside of the Weald of Kent, the properties are close to the National Trust village of Chiddingstone. This perfect Tudor village with many 16th and 17th Century half-timbered houses, along the quaint High Street, even boasts its very own castle.
Straw Barn, one of two single-storey cottages is ideally situated for exploring and discovering the many faces of the beautiful county of Kent. For anglers, the gothic splendour of nearby Chiddingstone Castle offers good fishing in the three-acre lily clad lake (permit required). Golfers, cyclists, horse riders, gardeners, heritage lovers and wildlife enthusiasts will all find somewhere to pursue their interests close by and for those wishing not to go far, many fine walks lead direct from the doorsteps. The towns of Tonbridge, Sevenoaks and Tunbridge Wells with their lively shopping centres are no more than 20 minutes away.
The nearby station at Penshurst has regular services to London, journey time 60 minutes, plus a train link to Gatwick. The airport is 35 minutes by car and Heathrow airport is a one-hour drive.
Special attention has been paid to these two properties, which cater for both the disabled and the able-bodied visitor. Designed all on one level with ease of access for wheelchairs so that everyone feels completely at home.
Hay Barn and Straw Barn have been tastefully converted into charming, contemporary cottages decorated in calm, neutral colours. The airy living accommodation with high-beamed ceilings gives a wonderful sense of space and they are comfortably furnished with a mixture of new and traditional pieces to give a pleasing country effect. The added luxury of under floor heating makes the properties suitable for all year-round holidays.
The main entrance door opens into a lobby with doors either end leading into each individual property. Both cottages are designed with openplan lounge/dining room and superbly equipped kitchen area with one wall of French windows. Straw Barn has two double bedrooms, one with a 5' bed and the other with two 2'6 beds and a good-sized bathroom with side entry sit down bath.
French windows opening onto paved courtyard garden, really give the feeling of bringing the outdoors inside. These sensory gardens offer something for everyone, raised beds full of fragrant flowers and plants and somewhere quiet to sit and watch the world go by.
Agents Note: All double beds offer the additional facilities of twin beds. Both Barns can be rented together to provide accommodation for up to 6.
