Rotherfield, East Sussex.
No Sunday or Bank Holiday arrivals
Nestling amongst the rolling hills of East Sussex and close to the unspoilt village of Rotherfield, Drumsell is just the place to relax and enjoy the slower pace of life that is still a feature of this part of the world. English village life has changed a great deal in the past century and many villages have been overtaken by the pace of modern life or have been artificially preserved in a "cocoon" for the benefit of coach parties and the tourist industry; Rotherfield has not.
Steeped in history, the village retains a natural English unpretentiousness with antique shops, local village stores, Sussex pubs and a historic church, surrounded by farmland where sheep and cattle graze peacefully in the fields. This is real Sussex countryside with working farms (and even a vineyard) producing high quality food and drink for the local and national markets.
Off the beaten track yet easily accessible, with the famous spa town of Royal Tunbridge Wells just 6 miles away and the lively seaside town of Brighton or the more traditional resort of Eastbourne both within easy reach. If activity is your thing, the Bowles Outdoor Centre is a short drive where you can try rock climbing, canoe training, or dry slope skiing. Or for a more leisurely experience, Dewlands Manor golf course, on the edge of the village, is the perfect setting for a relaxed round of golf. With National Trust houses and gardens, fishing and sailing at Bewl Water, Llama trekking in Ashdown Forest, opera at Glyndebourne House to name but a few, you will not be short of things to do. This charming ground floor cottage features entrance into a bright airy lounge with comfy soft leather sofas and views out over the garden.
Door leads from lounge into hallway, which gives access to 2 delightful bedrooms, one double and one twin, both with mellow furnishings creating a restful atmosphere.
The hallway then leads onto the spacious well-equipped kitchen/diner with warm pine units and table and chairs and the bathroom.
With lawns bordering two sides of the lodge, and views out over beautiful open countryside and a small lake, Drumsell is the ideal place to relax, forget stress and enjoy the tranquillity!
