Windmill Hill, Nr Hailsham, East Sussex
In an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty the tiny hamlet of Windmill Hill stands on a ridge, overlooking Pevensey marshes with the sea to the south, and the famous Weald to the north.
Boasting one of the largest post mills (well worth a visit) in Sussex and possibly across Britain, this quaint little village is an ideal location from which to enjoy some of the finest walking and cycling around. The local area is rich in heritage and culture, with impressive stately homes, fairytale castles, glorious gardens, contemporary art galleries and world-renowned musical festivals and concerts. As a welcome distraction there are also plentiful designer shops, stylish restaurants, organic cafes, idyllic country pubs and trendy bars to while-away a leisurely hour or perhaps make that two!
The spectacular rugged chalk coastline of the Sussex Heritage Coast is a short drive away, from where you can walk to the famous Beachy Head summit and enjoy magnificent vistas across the Channel. Alternatively just take it easy on Eastbourne's Blue Flag Beach whilst the children explore hidden pebble coves, splash merrily in the rock pools or even try their hand at prawning. For the more adventurous, experience the thrills of windsports along Pevensey Beach (7 miles) and for nature lovers Pevensey Levels are a haven for wild birds, flowers and animals. Splendid accommodation, a delightful location and so much to do for all ages ensures guests a relaxing and memorable stay.
Sympathetically converted, each property retains its own unique style. The traditional character of exposed beams and pine floors classically compliment comfortable furnishings, soft sofas, and well-equipped kitchens to give a tasteful yet homely tone and for pure indulgence at the end of your day, luxurious super king sized beds.
Originally a cart shed The Hovel still has many of its original beams and features. The spacious vaulted open-plan living/dining kitchen area with an end wall consisting of fully opening French doors provides a comfortable space to relax in. The property also has two bedrooms, one double and one twin, and a stylish marine blue and cool white bathroom with shower over bath. The secluded terrace leading from the French doors offers views of the garden and horse paddock providing the perfect backdrop for summer dining on warm balmy evenings or just to sit with a “sundowner.”
The Hop House a superb conversion of the farm's original oast house has lovely views over picturesque farmland. Guests can unwind in the elegant open plan living/dining kitchen area, which offers an easy and sociable ambience. There are three bedrooms, the master decorated in soft vanilla with crisp white linen has an ensuite shower room and the further two bedrooms have use of the chic family bathroom. French doors from living area open onto a large raised decking area giving panoramic views across the rolling farmland to the distant horizon. An idyllic setting for long relaxed lunches with good friends and good wine, informal fun filled family barbeques or intimate dinners 'a deux' as the stars twinkle above and the children are fast asleep!
Agent's note: The Hovel is situated opposite the Hop House and whilst both properties enjoy individual privacy they can also be combined and enjoyed by a larger group. The owners offer a variety of extra touches – delicious home made picnic packs and dinner menus and freezer food, all using local produce. Babysitting, and for any budding farmers, young or old, 'Tractor Trundle Rides' to give hands on farm experience. Dogs by arrangement with owner.

The property was excellent - had everything we required.
Only suggestion I would make is it would be useful to have some outside space to hang towels and any washing to dry. - EH United Kingdom | | | Superb location view-wise. Comfortable accomodation.
