Rye, East Sussex.

In a quiet cul-de-sac, in the heart of medieval Rye, Eagle Villa offers elegant, yet homely living space. Perfectly situated for guests travelling with or without transport, as the railway station is only a 5-minute walk away.

An intriguing town to be explored and enjoyed on foot, the Villa is only a stones throw away from the well-known Landgate Arch, the only survivor of four gates built in 1392 as a defence against the French and still standing guard over the town today.

With a lively history and unique ambience the town is peppered with beautifully preserved ancient buildings, art galleries, museums, delightful teashops and quirky restaurants and pubs. Adults and children alike will be fascinated with the town’s history of pirates and smugglers and not forgetting Captain Pugwash whose creator John Ryan lives here. When you have explored the cobbled higgledy-piggledy streets and enjoyed browsing in the specialist shops venture out into the beautiful surrounding area.

Many bridlepaths, walking and cycling routes lead from the doorstep including the popular 1066 walk and the endless golden sands at Camber (a Blue Flag beach) can be reached by a 2-mile cycle track. Further afield and you will find a multitude of fun things for families to do. All the excitement of sun, sea and sand with a generous measure of fun parks, steam trains, wildlife parks, a shipwreck museum, sealife centres, fairytale castles and a famous battle site all thrown in for your added enjoyment.

Tastefully decorated with quality furnishings, the house is arranged over 3 floors with a stunning master bedroom occupying the top floor. The entrance hall gives access to the lounge /dining room, where deep red colours blend softly with vanilla tones, and from there into the well-equipped kitchen. On the first floor are two charming bedrooms and the family bathroom with shower over bath and a separate w.c.

The pretty south-facing garden is ideal for family barbeques or a relaxing glass of chilled wine when the children are in bed. So tranquil, you will find it very hard to believe you are in the centre of town!

Agent’s Note: Small dogs by arrangement
