Robertsbridge, East Sussex.
No Sunday or Bank Holiday arrivals
Set in the, medieval village of Robertsbridge, surrounded by stunning East Sussex countryside, Magnolia Cottage is just the place to enjoy a rural atmosphere whilst being close to the coast, market towns and many places of interest in Sussex and Kent.
The heart of this friendly and historic village is the charming old-world High Street where picturesque timber framed Wealden Hall Houses, some of them dating back to 1390, rub shoulders with several pleasant pubs and a quaint village shop which acts as a butcher, baker, greengrocer and off licence all in one.
The village is renowned for the manufacture of cricket bats, started by L.J. Nicolls in 1876 the industry still continues today. Used by W.G. Grace to achieve his record-breaking 100th century in May 1894 and more recently in the 2003 World Cup more runs were scored using Gray-Nicolls bats, than any other brand. The village’s second claim to fame is that of Baden Powell who lived just outside the village and founded the first Cub Scout pack there.
Walks galore lead from the cottage door all and enjoy a wide selection of wildlife as you go Robertsbridge Pocket Park offers within its acres a number of informal walks through dense areas of blackthorn scrub, which are covered in blossom in spring and in autumn laden with sloe berries. Ducks and moorhens as well as the occasional kingfisher can be seen on the lake and the park provides a good habitat for birds, insects and mammals.
Road and rail links from the village are excellent with the main A21 [London to Hastings road] close by. If you can tear yourself away, the buzz of London is just 75 minutes from the village station.
Magnolia Cottage offers comfortable relaxing family accommodation and you will feel right at home. Pleasantly furnished with bright and cheery colours and ranged over 4 floors you enter the property into a split-level lounge. From here a hallway leads to utility room, family bathroom and rear door out to the garden. On the first floor is the kitchen/dinning room with stairs to second floor with bunk bedroom and cabin bedroom. Further stairs lead up to the top floor master bedroom.
The garden is a delight for parents and children alike, great for a game of football, a family "barbie" and for Mum and Dad to find a quiet corner and enjoy a sundowner.
