Westfield, Nr Hastings, East Sussex.

Agent's Note:
This property offers additional sleeping facilities for a further 2 guests with a sofa bed in lounge area.

Far away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, in the heart of the beautiful East Sussex countryside rolling down to the coast at Hastings, just 3 miles away, this appealing property has been stylishly converted. Offering compact and comfortable living all on one level, the cottage is ideal for couples seeking a truly peaceful escape!

An easy walk from the busy village of Westfield still boasting a village shop, local butcher and even a hairdressers, great for a smarten up after a day out before sampling the delights of the two village pubs. For something a little special The Wild Mushroom restaurant offers a secluded and intimate gourmet dining experience. (reservations advised). A prominent sight as you enter the village from the south is St. John the Baptist church which has served the parishioners for over 800 years.

There are many lovely walks close by, one of the most popular starting in the village. This walk drops down into the peaceful valley of the Forge Stream and then a delightful path heads north of the village through colourful low-lying meadows before climbing to higher ground. Following two sections of the 1066 Country Walk, this route is perfect for a short hike.

There is so much to explore inland too! Garden-lovers should head to Great Dixter and Pashley Manor, two fabulous examples of the horticulturist's art. The fairytale medieval castle at Bodiam and of course the nearby famous battle site that heralded the beginning of the Norman Conquest at the atmospheric Battle Abbey, are equally well worth a visit. Another popular tourist attraction with vineyard walks, tours and wine tasting is Carr Taylor Vineyards. Sample the delicious 'Gold Medal' winning bubbly, which has beaten strong competition from many well-known French producers!

Then down to the coast for beaches with golden sands. Try Camber Sands one of the country's best locations for beachcombing or visit Hastings a typical seaside town with a difference. Namely - Britain's steepest funicular Victorian Railway, authentic Smugglers Caves, one of the last great Victorian seaside piers and the remains of William the Conqueror's first English castle - all sitting happily along side more modern day amenities including a Sealife aquatic centre and several astounding lighting installations including the mysterious marine monolith 'Stream' and the iconic 'Sticks of Rock' along the seafront. Also home to Europe's largest beach fishing fleet so why not take home a dressed crab to enjoy with a glass of local bubbly. Alternatively, explore the winding 'twittens' of the Old Town - complete with art galleries and interesting shops to provide that all important souvenir of your holiday!

Everything about the cottage décor is calm and sleek. Cream walls are teamed with neutral flooring and blond oak furniture to create a light and spacious feel with dark sofas adding stylish definition. Comprising a spacious lounge with the dining area by French doors, which overlook an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, a well equipped kitchen, bathroom and a double bedroom. The cottage has sole use of an orchard garden with stunning views, just the spot to relax and enjoy a chilled glass of wine.

Property Reviews
Just returned from a week at South Barn Cottage and wanted to let you know how pleased we were with this lovely cottage. Everything was spotlessly clean and a warm welcome with flowers and cakes - I would recommend it to anyone for a relaxing holiday - AW Norfolk, England
Couldnt have asked for better. Location is excellent for Hastings, Rye and Battle. Owners were very friendly and helpful (without ever feeling like we were being checked up on!). Very child friendly layout - our 8 month old had a wonderful time. - CJ UK
Home from home - very comfortable. Could not think of anything that could have been added to what was already there. Beautiful location - ideal for a peaceful retreat but close enough to visit places of interest.
The property has been converted to a gorgeous holiday home without losing any of the charm of the existing building. The owners live next door and are on hand should you need them (we didn’t) but you do not hear or see anything of them.
Wonderful rural location with stunning country views.
Would recommend this property to anyone!!! - TW United Kingdom
Overall the property was excellant in location, style and comfort and provided veverything we needed. It was the proverbial home from home. - CW ENGLAND
We had a wonderful holiday in this lovely cottage . It was peaceful, clean and very comfortable . Our daughter enjoyed the quietness of the orchard from where she could make friend with "Sweet Bubble Gum" , our owners’ nice horse.
Thank you very much to Mr and Mrs Glover for their friendly welcome . - DP France
