Snodland, Kent.

From downland to marshes and a rich historical centre, all in the space of one parish, the small town of Snodland (once the largest village in England) and Sandhole Barn have a lot to offer locally.

Lime working was one of Snodland's prime industries in the 18th Century, supplying lime to build both Waterloo Bridge and the New London Bridge. Transformed from former chalk pits, Leybourne Lakes Country Park is a wonderful location for wildlife and birdwatching, whilst also allowing watersports enthusiasts the opportunity to windsurf, canoe and kayaking. Around the lakes are a series of woods for gentle walks and cycling. Another great sport for walkers and picnickers is Blue Bell Hill Picnic site. Within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty offering magnificent panoramic views over the Medway Valley, and with the North Downs Way passing along the northern edge of the site the are plenty of opportunities to explore. For golfers, just "a pitch and a putt" away is Oast Park Golf Centre, boasting a range of golfing facilities including a full nine hole course and a driving range complete with twenty bays that can be used at night.

Should you wish to venture out and about, the "world" is your oyster with excellent road and train links. Why not leave the car behind and take the train? London is accessed from Snodland's own train station and nearby Ebbsfleet provides international rail links to Brussels, Paris or Lille.

Spacious and comfortable, the open plan lounge/diner/kitchen with a glass floor to ceiling wall is bright and cheerful yet with a refined contemporary elegance. The double and twin bedrooms with light coloured wood, soft pale decor and creamy cappuccino linen create the perfect bedtime retreat. An added bonus to this property is the bathroom subtly equipped for guests with mobility problems. In contrast the cottage garden is typically English, secluded, quiet and a little haven of tranquillity for birds and humans alike.

This property attracts a 20% Olympic surcharge from 20th July to 9th September 2012.

Property Reviews
We spent a wonderful time at Sandhole Barn. After staying more than 10 times in England for our summer holidays we again enjoyed our stay in your beautiful country. We made the reservation without knowing a lot from this barn, because of the missing description. Just from the photos. Due to our experience we hoped to find a well equipped cottage. This cottage truly leave nothing to be desired from ourside. We are completely satisfied - OB Germany
