Bexhill On Sea, East Sussex
With the acclaimed Cooden Golf Course, described by James Braid, five-time winner of the British Open, as 'a good sporting course' at the bottom of the garden, Crathie Cottage is great for golfers. However for the non golfers amongst you, Cooden Beach, known for its peace and tranquility is just a 'stones throw away'.
Bexhill-on-Sea, once the birthplace of British motor racing, is now a quiet and relaxing coastal town with an elegance all of its own, full of Victorian and Edwardian seaside nostalgia with all of the attractions you associate with a heart-warming day at the beach, this is definitely the place to be.
Enjoy strolling along the wide two mile long and level promenade, never overcrowded and perfect for walking, jogging or roller skating. Alternatively the miles of quiet beach are just perfect for family picnics. Pick up an ice cream at one of the seafront shops or take a short walk across the road for lunch or a cream tea in one of the many cafes and bistros lining the seafront. Afterwards why not hire a boat or play tennis in Egerton Park, and not to be missed is the Modernist icon for contemporary arts the De La Warr Pavilion. Bexhill is also a popular haunt for sailors and rowers, with the seafront sailing clubs always busy with adventurous sea-farers.
However, if you can tear yourself away to venture further afield, unforgettable experiences await you in the delightful surrounding 1066 country, where you will do far more than simply learn about history, you will live it!
A very special house – fill with family and friends, enjoy a picnic in the garden, a traditional Sunday Lunch in the elegant dining room (seats 10) or relax and dine together al fresco on the terrace and watch the sun go down. Guests can unwind in the comfortable lounge with wood burning stove, or in the stunning conservatory with extensive views over the tranquil garden to the golf course. The kitchen spans 3 rooms, boasts a “Nigella” styled pantry and has all the necessary appliances to inspire any cook. The “kids den” complete with games console is an “adult fee zone” and lets parents enjoy peace and quiet in the rest of the house
At the end of the day the 5 bedrooms, 2 ensuite doubles and 3 twins offer the perfect resting place - combined with a family bathroom - create a unique holiday retreat.
This property attracts a £505 Olympic surcharge from 27th July to 12th August 2012.
